Naturally we love our families and friends yes we should love them BUT put Jesus first.Jesus  enouraged us to live a God first life.If we renounce everything and follow him everything else will follow us.Following Jesus entail forsaking relationships eg time spent with friends and have more time with God in prayer,bible study etc.Denying one`s own life include things like fasting , forgoing favourite Tv channel and instead you decide to help a neighbour.Matt 6 verse 33 says it all.We have to seek of the kingdom of God first and everything else follows.If we seek him diligently all relationships are cemented by him.In seeking him we do not labour in vain.
