In what way is Jesus still with us always? How can we be assured of Hi s presence?

Jesus is still with us as a body. All those who receive Him as a Savior becomes in union with Him and therefore we too become members of one body through repentance and baptism. Our faith in the Lord is the only assurance. He is jehovah Shammah, 'The Lord is present'. It promises God's abiding presence with His people.

Why didn`t the elders want the true story of Jesus` resurrection to get out?

The elders didnt want the true story of Jesus' resurrection to go out because they were very much ashamed of themselves. They hadnt believed and also made others believe that Jesus wasnt God. They didnt want others to accuse them for misguiding them and their faith. therefore they wanted to keep it a secret.
