Why do people need to know Jesus?

People need to know Jesus because He is the Son of God, the only Son of God and He loved us enough to die for us. Jesus claimed not only to be God's Son, but also to be one with God (equal to God):

"I and the Father are one." ( John 10:30)

"Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one." ( Mark 12:29)

Therefore, if we know Jesus, we know God also. The more deeply we know Jesus, the more deeply we know God the Father because Jesus reveals to us who the Father is.

Jesus said: "All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." ( Luke 10:22)

We also need to know Jesus because He provided the only way for us to go to Heaven. Jesus not only provided the way for us to go to the Heaven-the only way-but He actually is the way. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).

We need to know Jesus because, for those who do know Him, He said He would prepare a place for them in Heaven. Jesus said: ". . . I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, you may be also" (John 14:3).

We need to know Jesus because He provides a way for our sins to be erased. He was and is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

We need to know Jesus so we can be saved from our sins and have peace in our hearts.
