Comparing scripture with scripture...

is needed for a correct interpretation of these verses. God has the power and ability to do what ever we ask him. However, we need to remember that 1. he will not give us bad things if we ask for good things, 2. he is God and so powerfu & wise.. and we are human and much much less powerful & wise... therefore we need to recognise this and not try to act as a god but as a child of a loving God.

Jesus approach to answering Prayers

To read this paragraph about Jesus: "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." ( Matthew 17:20)" brings confusion to me, as the priests and reverends tell us that a prayer is not a wishlist. You can see that doing what Jesus wants us to do is what we should follow.
