In the Epistle of James in the New Testament, we are encouraged to pray for the sick. The fervent prayer of a righteous man (one who walks with Jesus) is a weighty prayer.

However, Jesus may not choose to heal everyone. For example, you can read the testimony of Jon Eareckson Tada and see that God left her in a wheelchair for a purpose. He apparently chose not to heal her because He had a higher purpose in her remaining invalid.
