Do You Worship the Work? “We are God’s fellow workers …” (1 Corinthians 3:9). Beware of any work for God that causes or allows you to avoid concentrating on Him. A great number of Christian workers worship their work. The only concern of Christian workers should be their concentration on God. This will mean that all the other boundaries of life, whether they are mental, moral, or spiritual limits, are completely free with the freedom God gives His child; that is, a worshiping child, not a wayward one. A worker who lacks this serious controlling emphasis of concentration on God is apt to become overly burdened by his work. He is a slave to his own limits, having no freedom of his body, mind, or spirit. Consequently, he becomes burned out and defeated. There is no freedom and no delight in life at all. His nerves, mind, and heart are so overwhelmed that God’s blessing cannot rest on him. But the opposite case is equally true—once our concentration is on God, all the limits of our life are free and under the control and mastery of God alone. There is no longer any responsibility on you for the work. The only responsibility you have is to stay in living constant touch with God, and to see that you allow nothing to hinder your cooperation with Him. The freedom that comes after sanctification is the freedom of a child, and the things that used to hold your life down are gone. But be careful to remember that you have been freed for only one thing—to be absolutely devoted to your co-Worker. We have no right to decide where we should be placed, or to have preconceived ideas as to what God is preparing us to do. God engineers everything; and wherever He places us, our one supreme goal should be to pour out our lives in wholehearted devotion to Him in that particular work. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might …” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). “Ready in Season”
“Be ready in season and out of season” (2 Timothy 4:2).
Many of us suffer from the unbalanced tendency to “be ready” only “out of season.” The season does not refer to time; it refers to us. This verse says, “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season.” In other words, we should “be ready” whether we feel like it or not. If we do only what we feel inclined to do, some of us would never do anything. There are some people who are totally unemployable in the spiritual realm. They are spiritually feeble and weak, and they refuse to do anything unless they are supernaturally inspired. The proof that our relationship is right with God is that we do our best whether we feel inspired or not.
One of the worst traps a Christian worker can fall into is to become obsessed with his own exceptional moments of inspiration. When the Spirit of God gives you a time of inspiration and insight, you tend to say, “Now that I’ve experienced this moment, I will always be like this for God.” No, you will not, and God will make sure of that. Those times are entirely the gift of God. You cannot give them to yourself when you choose. If you say you will only be at your best for God, as during those exceptional times, you actually become an intolerable burden on Him. You will never do anything unless God keeps you consciously aware of His inspiration to you at all times. If you make a god out of your best moments, you will find that God will fade out of your life, never to return until you are obedient in the work He has placed closest to you, and until you have learned not to be obsessed with those exceptional moments He has given you. | Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment? |
YAHWEH, the First Person of the Holy Trinity gave the ten commandments to Moses. This is the old law as practiced by the descendants of Abraham. Jesus is the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. This Son of God is giving to all mankind very simple rules (commandments) to practice with justice and righteousness. The directive that Jesus gave to Peter is also an informal commissioning. The Son of God is the Prime, He is the source of commissions to Peter. Thus, Peter himself is commissioned to love others and spread the "new commandment" of loving one another as Christ has loved you. This, by the way, is an example of the light being lit in the wilderness. This Unit 4 Lesson gives excellent examples of how we are to apply with humility the new commandment given by Jesus. | What is the Kingdom of God? |
I will try to concentrate only on the "What" of the Kingdom. The what is spoken by Jesus in His own words. It is the imagination of man that has turned it into something it is not. Its purity and its cleanliness are different than what we here know. The light of heaven is different. It is not harsh, and there is no night. You have been told by many that ithas no night. The light there is very near to the daylight before the deluge. The waters from which the deluge came formed an outer atmosphere barrier which refracted all rays and reflected the harmful ones back outward for the sun to reburn. The refracted light was more evenly "distributed' when it hit objects or people. I am no scientist, group members. There is a Kingdom of God upon Earth, of course. It is not what we would say is THE Kingdom; it is what we would say is the Kingdom upon earth, . . . . on Earth as it is in heaven. I hope that you might intake that phrase as much as I have learned to do so. I have found it invaluable as a mini-interpreter to many Scriptural verses and situations. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. The kingdom of God upon earth is not clearly seen. Think of this. You know that at times people say . . . just the other day I thought I was in heaven, and there I saw (thusandso), or I was wide awake and I thought I thought I saw angels (doing thusandso). These are small windows into life after death that God uses to encourage us, to change us, or to guide us. Please consider it differently when you actually see angels participating in earthly situations. That is divine intervention. We are not discussing that now. The Kingdom is our reward for being faithful followers of Christ. The Kingdom is the place where Jesus is glorified. There are no bowling alleys, basketball courts, factories, sewing machines, or televisons. Do not relate what deceased people might be doing, if you focus on earthly treasures. It will clearly be in error. We will be glorifying Jesus in the Kingdom in heaven. Ever think that you might get bored of doing that one thing into eternity? Not so. Consider that Jesus's many facets of glory have hardly been glimpsed by any human here on earth. Do you have a different picture now? Jesus is God. The Kingdom is His. Mary is there as she was at the Way of the Cross and at the Cross of Passion. By: Ken Cravens Category: Good News: the Kingdom of God has come... |

 | Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable? |
Lowly people give all of us the example of service to all. This is what Jesus wishes all of us to consider and do. If we do not learn to ascribe to this, we will not be judged as worthy for heaven. The widow gave two small coins for the temple, which is all the money she had. She could not have given more. Jesus wants us to donate all of ourselves, whether money, attitude, or duty to the Lord God. With this childlike love and attitude of dedication, we will be ready to serve in heaven. | How do you see it differently? |
Hello, I am Ken. I think that a great thing I have to learn in this course is your perspectives. I already know my own. Pretty well, I know why I answer as I do, but I will not know your reasons. With this short introduction, I am placing myself into the middle of our circle and saying,"Help me with this." or "How did you get that view?" I am not your future employer nor your next door neighbor. My viewpoint does not influence your success. I want your opinions to influence me and how I think. The world is opening up, let us bring it to together in friendship and togetherness. Yes, I care because you are a fellow being on this planet. Jesus did not mean for people to live apart with their doors shut forever. He intended for us to share His good news in harmony of attitude, for His glory. Sincerely, Kenneth By: Ken Cravens Category: Jesus` First Disciples |
