When answering John`s question about whether He was the Christ, why did Jesus point out the results of his ministry rather than just saying yes or no?

Here Jesus wanted to remaind John that he is the one because John was full of fear which leads him to have no confidence in Jesus yet John was the one to recognise hime.now the fear was demorolised him.but Jesus wanted to remaind him his mission in the world.

Jesus has capacity to help John and to loss him from the Jail and if he has mistaken to have no confidence in him because he send his disciples to ask him whether is he or not?and Jesus is saing that Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.Why John is not greater in the kingdom while he performed well his calling?
