If the world hates those who testify that its works are evil, why didn`t Jesus deemphasize this portion of His message?

Jesus did not deemphasize this portion of His message, because His time had not yet come for Him to deemphasize His works.

What was there about Jesus` message caused so many of His disciples to turn away?

The disciples turned away from Jesus because of the word he told them that The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life. But there are some of you who don't believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn't believe, and who it was who would betray him. He said, "For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father."
At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

How does one, in our current day eat the flesh of Jesus and drink His blood?

In our current day,one can eat Jesus flesh and drink His blood by receiving Him as your personal savior and Lord and by reading bible daily,By reading the Bible and following the word of God by imitating Jesus and by trying to do what Jesus did Also when receiving communion and thinking of Jesus while he offered bread and wine as his body and blood which he sacrificed for us.
