What about Jesus` death impressed the Centurian so much that He realized Jesus was the Son of God? It was his first time to see the death which causes the earthquake and thunder realized that these things which happened immediately upon Jesus' death,was really the son of God for there is no man he had ever seen in his days of life or in history who had the death which can shake the hall world.

Why did the soldiers mock Jesus? The soldiers mock Jesus because they did not believe He was the Messiah,secondly was to act as their leaders were commande them to do.and then soldiers were not jesus followers but was obeying the priests to do as their commandment was commanded plus the justice of pilate.
