The Pharisee did not go to the Temple to pray to God but to announce to all within earshot how good he was. The tax collector went recognising his sin and begging for mercy. Self-righteousness is dangerous. It leads to pride, causes a person to despise others, and prevents him/her from learning anything from God. The tax collector's prayer should be our prayer because we all need God's mercy every day. Do not let pride in your achievements cut you off from God.

What is in the heart of the tax collector (rejected by society) that the Pharasee (religious leader) seems to lack? A lesson for us, that despite of our unrighteous path we have been passing through, if we truly confess our sins definetely GOD will grant us his endless mercy!!

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) No, he was fulfiling the will of God on earth, 2. Jesus was just setting an example for us on how to beheave as believers and also the world proved him true as the son of God after what he had talked about himself came to pass.
