Define "Salvation" ? Note how Zachariah (the father of John the Baptist) praises God for fulfilling an old promise (oath/covenant) that "we...should serve him (God) without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life." Salvation can be defined as the state of being saved from the power of the evil one. The Jews thought the Messiah would come to save them from the powerful Roman empire. They were ready for a military savior and not for a peaceful Messiah who would conquer sin and its power over our lives.

What do people think about John the Baptist even before he is born? Note: Sometimes a big introduction is given for a person who then introduces someone even more important. Luke is announcing the announcer of Jesus. John the baptist birth was amiracle he become the announcer of the coming of christ
