What did Mary understand about who was in her womb before the birth of Jesus? Mary understood that the child in her womb was the Messiah promised to Abraham in Genesis 22:18; God had kept his promise to Abraham to be merciful to His people forever and the birth of Christ fulfilled this promise. "Through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me." Here it was fulfilled.
