Jesus emphasizes the phrase "in my name" when refering to the miracle and giving a cup of water. What does it mean to do something in Jesus` name?
Doing something in Jesus' name means to use His power to do the seemingly impossible, or to be possessed by His spirit so that whatever you do, you do it in His name.

The boy`s father said to Jesus, "I do believe; help my unbelief." How does Jesus respond to the father`s honest request for help with unbelief? What does this teach you?
Jesus was compassionate to the father of the boy for his faith in Him and when he said he would like to be helped overcome his unbelief. Jesus responded to his request by healing his son. This teaches us that belief or faith is something we can not obtain without help. Faith is a gift from God, no matter how much faith we have, we never reach the point of being self sufficient. Faith is not stored away like money in the bank, but is a process of daily renewing our trust in Jesus.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

Interesting!  Despite the various aspects in His growth background, both with the Roman and Jewish (conflicting!) systems, one crucial aspect is clear:  That of a liberator.  Second class citizens, in which women and physically challenged were classified, got liberated and followed Him, while in the Jewish system, women would only learn under and from women, and not from the Rabbi as was the case with the male part of the society. The physically challenged were considered outcasts. Being Son of God, at young age  Jesus showed great wisdom in the synagogues when He participated in teachings.  The Social structure where the religious leaders loaded it over their subjects was overburdening, but Jesus, through His teachings gave liberating messages both to the ruled and the rulers (Matthew 5:3-10; Luke 11).  I love Him for dying for me and continuing to liberate me and humanity from the grip of the devil.  Amen.
