What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

political settingsThe jewish people were subject to foreign rule Egypt,Syrian ,Babylonian etc.In hierarchy of power the jewish government reported to the authority of the local government (King Herod)which was reported to Rome.Jews held much distruct and often hatred for the Roman empire they were unwilling to subjects.It was divided into two parties:the pharises who taught the law and the other one the saducces who rejected the tradition in favour of political and religious co-opoeration with the Romans

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

The surprising bit of Jesus' background that surprises me is the economic one. According to the preaching today people portray Jesus as coming from the poor background and yet here i see that His family was part of the middle class since carpentry/wood work is there cassified. This means that carpentry was not as it is today.

Why didn`t Jesus want his disciples to tell others that He was the Christ?

He wanted to know how far these people have gone spiritually and how they could listen the spirit of God. He also wanted them to depend fully on the Holly spirit than to the ear says.
