Why do you think Peter denied Jesus? Because he did not have the power to resist the spirit of fear of death so he thought that was the best way of escaping and this is where the devil coner most of christians h, he finds us in a situations or in places where we do not have any other choise a part from denying ou Lord Jesus.

Why was the crowd so intent on having Jesus crucified? Some did it because of the influence of the crowed but most importantly is that they knew that once He is dead then no one would ever be there to tell them of their evil doings. As many will always prefer the wider dark path to the small clear one
