I think Jesus christ had to persevere physical pain because he had been spiritually tested several occassions and excelled.With the physical and spiritual pain he proved beyond any reasonable doubt how important (GOD)Heaven is.

If neither Herod nor Pilate found anything worthy of death to convict Jesus of then why was he sentenced to death? The public wish was to hang Jesus.

Why do you think Jesus did not speak to Herod nor answer Pilate? Jesus did not talk to both of them, because he knew that all had nothing to accuse him.
