Why did Jesus answer a question with a question, rather than just telling the Pharisees by what authority He acted?

THE QUESTION JESUS USED WAS AN ANSWER TO THE PHARISEES.JESUS KNEW THEIR HEARTS THAT THEY WERE JUST TRYING TO GET A WAY TO ACCUSE HIM SO HE PROVED TO THEM THAT HE KNEW WHAT WAS IN THEIR MIND.

Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a dramatic manner? Why did not he try to accomplish the same thing more diplomatically?

JESUS WAS ANGRY WITH PEOPLE WHO PRETEND TO BE GENUINE YET THEY ARE HYPOCRATES.HE WANTED THEM TO KNOW THE HOUSE OF GOD IS A HOLY PLACE.
