Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?

Yes Jesus believe lowly people are valuable because in all they do they do it sincerely as we can see the widow who gave out the few coins and since that was all what she had then to god this is of great value rather than the tycoons with millions whenever they give out anything from their wealth they do it boastfully trying to show up the much they are contributing. As we have read the example of children, indeed a child is an innocent creature He/she doesn't know whats bad or Good, cannot carry a grudge with someone. Once hurted they cry and feel well and friendly again. The story of the samaritan woman also show that Jesus has no boundaries His Love is for all.

Why is it helpful to confront a brother alone first, before involving others in confronting him?

If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn't listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established
