What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you? political settingsThe jewish people were subject to foreign rule Egypt,Syrian ,Babylonian etc.In hierarchy of power the jewish government reported to the authority of the local government (King Herod)which was reported to Rome.Jews held much distruct and often hatred for the Roman empire they were unwilling to subjects.It was divided into two parties:the pharises who taught the law and the other one the saducces who rejected the tradition in favour of political and religious co-opoeration with the Romans
