God has always desired to dwell with man. This is the reason for our creation-that we may have fellowship with our maker. Jesus came to restore what man lost in the garden of eden. He came to take man back again to God.

 The temple at Jerusalem was built under the direct direction of God Himself when He told Moses to follow the design that he saw on the mount. Atonement between man and God was done at the temple, when sacrifices had to be offered for God to take away the sin of man and man be reconciled back to God.

When the priests and the Jews decided to have business in the house, this took away the focus of people from God into business. They no longer concentrated on their fellowship with God but money now became their main point of concern-another god. Jesus testified that He had come to do God's business, which was to reconcile man to God. When therefore man departed further from God by doing merchandise, the it had to upset Jesus even the more, since man had already upset God by breaking His commandments.
