Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Jesus christ had proven on several occassions that he had a strong spirit.I think with the physical torture which he suffered he proved beyond resonable doubt how important it was to go to Heaven or meet God.And that no amount of physical pain should tear us away from God or our faith.

I think Jesus christ had to persevere physical pain because he had been spiritually tested several occassions and excelled.With the physical and spiritual pain he proved beyond any reasonable doubt how important (GOD)Heaven is.
