Why did Jesus“ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

I think a physical example communicates more than a spiritual one. Men needed to see the mess sin had caused in their life and how expensive it is to pay for that. Infact i have had experience when witnessing where you talk about the wages of sin is death and spitirual separation, it becomes a bit hard to understand since one has been sinning and not yet died and finds it hard to grasp the meaning of spiritual separation but when you mention something closer physical and practical like burning in hell, it becomes easier to sink in the mind.

I think Jesus saw that no matter how much he preached about the kingdom of God, men still remained difficult and sinful thus needed something more than preaching-a physical sacrifice of his own life.

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
All what Jesus did had been earlier prophesied or foretold and the sequence of events culminating to his arrest to death were all in line with the plans and purposes of God. As the bible tells us that many are the plans ina mans heart but its the purpose of God that prevails, many people had their own plans in their hearts on what was happening but its the purpose of God that carried the day- the price of our redemption being paid on the cross through death on an innocent. One thing that surprises me is that all many were ganging up to have Jesus crucified for telling them the truth about the kingdom of God who they claimed to know- what level of blindness. Its my prayer that God will help us to remain in tune with his spirit so that we may learn to understand times and seasons.

What do people think about John the Baptist even before he is born? Note: Sometimes a big introduction is given for a person who then introduces someone even more important. Luke is announcing the announcer of Jesus.

I think people were marvelled and amazed
