Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Ithink this is to show that in spiritual life you can also suffer physically and emotionaly and for us to keep moving and standing firm and strong we just need to remember and to see what Jesus went through to an extent of him calling his father to remove the cup but instead he was given power and strength to go through it and to overcome it.
