Herod was enrageded by the mockery of the wise men who decided to take a different route after having seen Jesus therefore he was not able to know where the child Jesus was.To be sure that he killed the new born Christ he ordered the killing of all children two years and under.He did this in order to retain his kingship so that he would have no threat from any other king and especially from Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Why was all of Jerusalem troubled about the birth of Jesus? Because they thought that the new born king will rule them in a very harsh manner.will force them to change things that they would not want changed.
