Why is it signficant that Jesus fulfilled what was predicted hundreds of years before? Note: Mark refers to the old Scriptures from the Prophet Isaiah (chapter 53) "He poured out his soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And he bore the sins of many." Isaiah 53 contains many more matches to events in Jesus` life.
Jesus fulfilled what was predicted hundreds of years before because of his love for us. He could have saved himself, but he chose to endured the suffering, pain and humiliation for our sake and even for his enemies. He died on that cross for us and the penalty for our sins was paid by his death.

What was Jesus feeling and thinking while he was mocked and humiliated in front of others? Recall Jesus` own teachings (Matt 5:11), "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven."
I think Jesus was feeling pity for those who were mocking and humiliating Him for they knew not what they were doing. He knew the meaning of all what was happening to Him; it meant that He was paying a ransom for the sins of the world. It was painful yes, but he knew He had done the will of His Father who had sent Him to die for the world.

The Roman governor, Pilate, found that Jesus had done nothing wrong. Yet, he authorized Jesus` crucifixion to please the crowd. Can you explain why people put popularity above doing what is right?
Although he may have seen no guilt in Jesus and no reason to condemn him to death, Pilate wavered when the Jews in the crowd threatened to report him to Caesar. Such a report, accompanied by a riot, could cost him his position and hopes for advancement. In turn it would also mean that the advantages, previleges, and any monetary gains meant for him would be lost. So he had to sacrifice the spiritual gains for the worldly gains.
