So they had to ask Him to leave them alone than lose their source of income and security in life. Faith allowed power to flow from Jesus even without his initiative. What is faith? Faith is tust, trusting in something that you have never witnessed or tried in your life and hoping that it will bring desired results.

How did the disciples Before, or rather during the storm the disciples panicked because the storm threatened to destroy them all, and Jesus seemed unaware and unconcerned. Jesus did a miracle, that showed he was from God and God was with him and he was with God, by commanding the wind and waves to calm down. After this, the disciples who had been underestimating Him began to respect Him and were even afraid of his divine power over nature.
