Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? This was said by the first prophets that there will be another option after our father Adam and Eve sinned and with the love of God he prepared his plan to rescue us through our ancestors and ourselves, this was the plan of God in that case its was to be executed by the death of Jesus, remember Jesus didn't sin. But because of me and you he had to complete the mission of God, that if we accept him we can get salvation through the cross,
