Why is this old man Simeon so excited to meet this baby Jesus? We are told that Simeon was a righteous and devout man and that he has been looking forward for consolation of Israel, but the Holy Spirit revealed to him that his wishes will be fullfilled before his death. Now he embraced Jesus he knew for sure that Israel consolation is due and that God has fullfiled his promise! Is this not the reason to be excited?

What was Jesus feeling and thinking while he was mocked and humiliated in front of others? Recall Jesus` own teachings (Matt 5:11), "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven." He asked Farther (God) to forgive them as they didn't knew what they were doing! We are also required to forgive and ask our Farther in heaven to forgive all who wronged us.
