What about Jesus` death impressed the Centurian so much that He realized Jesus was the Son of God?

According to me ,the impression was the darkness which happened and then his resurection ,made them to realise that Jesus was a sn of God.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

i have learnt so many things about Jesus' background that stand out and surprises to mention but a few:

I did not know that after Jesus' birth, Mary and Joseph had other children.

At the age of 12 Jesus could amaze the teachers by his answers and understanding.

In Jewish culture married and unmarried would live under one roof.

A Jewish family lived by very strict moral, social and religous rules.

There were no forks and spoons, food was eaten by dipping in with the fingers.

Red meat was served only as a special occassions and no pork.

People slept on mats and owned limited personal goods.

I have learnt a lot about Jesus' background.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?

Because they hadn't recieved the revelation that Jesus was the Lord and hence succumbed to the pressure of the chief Priests and Elders.
