Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Because Jesus as a human being was bearing the penalty of our sins by passing through physical and emotional pain of life and death and as He had to keep his promise towards His Father's(John 18:11).So Jesus by being in flesh and divine all together had to experience suffering and death like us.That total separation with the Father allowed us to reconcile with our father in heaven,spiritually,emotionally,and physically.
