What is the harvest, who sows it and who reaps it?

Harvest as used in daily life can be used to mean

  • A crop harvest from the rippened fields
  • It can also be used to mean the consequence of an effort or activity; "the harvest of sin is death"
  • Harvest is also used to reffer to the season of gathering crops from the feilds.
  • In the farming context, it's usually the farmer who by his efforts or the use of servants, slaves, family or hired laboured that sows and reaps the fruits of his efforts.

in the bible context the Judges, prophets, John the Baptist, Jesus and later the Apostles were the sowers and the reaped by seeing people turning back to God

The verb harvest has 2 senses (first 1 from tagged texts)

    1. reap, harvest, glean -- (gather, as of natural products; "harvest the grapes")
    2. harvest -- (remove from a culture or a living or dead body, as for the purposes of transplantation; "The Chinese are said to harvest organs from executed criminals")

What type of water is Jesus offering to the woman so that she will never thirst again?

"If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."

In each one of us there is a longing and thirst for God. This thirst is insatiable unless we come to the knowledge of Christ.

This is examplified by the answer the woman gives and the questions she posses to Jesus.

The water that becomes streams of Life in us is the knoweledge of Jesus as Christ and saviour. No wonder Jesus says, "I'm the way, the truth and the life". John 14 and again He says "He who has the son has life"
