Why did Jesus challenge the disciples to "give them (5000 people) something to eat" before multiplying the food?

Jesus challenged the disciples to feeed the 5,000 people before muktiplying the food because: He wanted to test the disciples' faith i.e. if they believe that God can do more than they (disciples hope). He also wanted to use the opportunity to express to them that He was truly the chosen Messiah (Son of God). In all, He wanted to proof that there is NOTHING impossible with God.

Why did Jesus challenge the disciples to "give them (5000 people) something to eat" before multiplying the food?

Some people in the lives of Jesus had started demonstrating "Faith" as in the Kingdom of God. Eg, when Peter Tried, but failed to walk on water, or the woman of Faith who touched the helm of Jesus' cloak, for a healing, or Mary who called upon Jesus for restoring Lazarus to life, or Even the Roman Centurion. Jesus had this grand eye opener on the disciples, to try to cultivate Faith in them, since they were severally very poor at it. Jesus mission was to demonstrate always that the Kingdom of God is for enormous abundance, but that of men are but limited.
