Why did Jesus challenge the disciples to give them (5000 people) something to eat before multiplying the food?
He had love and authority, even to turn stone to bread. There was need now for people to eat something, and he knew the solution, but the disciples needed to get the facts strait - that it would be inhuman to send away people who had demonstrated their desire and love for God hungry, exhausted and tired. These people ran from all towns in galilee, into this desert, looking for the word of life. Jesus wanted to prove another fact - that he was the bread of life. The challenge to the apostles was to open their spiritual eyes, to realise that what was impossible with man, was possible with God.

King Herod held power to kill as desired, yet he himself feared many things. What did he fear? Do have have any of his fears?
Writing for the second time! Remember he killed all the innocent male infants below the age of two years, in a fear that a new King, called Jesus was born, who might overthrow his regime? Remember also Jesus was sentenced to death by Pilate, and with knowledge of Herod, when they thought about him being the King of the Jews? These Jewish kings had a fear of anyone who threatened their supremacy on the throne. He could have stopped the beheading of John, but he chose not to, rather to have him killed.

He feared the blood of the innocent. The righteous. He heard John. He firmly believed in John as the mighty prophet of God. Confronting a man of God was dreadful. That was like antagonising God himself. Herod had power to sence anyone upon conviction, but not over nothing. I too have a fear just incase my reckless actions might accidently lead to an innocent soul to suffer remorse, or grief. God should help me to make wise decisions at all times.
