 | Jesus could not do a mighty work in his own town among relatives because of disbelief. What is disbelief? |
Disbelief is to stubbornly refuse to believe, in this case, in Jesus as the messiah, the annointed son of God. That was why they gave a long chronology of Jesus`s roots, according to what they knew: A carpentor`s son, born to Mary and Joseph, and not differnt from the many such other children they saw around - so in utter stubbornness, they mocked him and provoked his anger - demanding to see what they heard about. This charge to prove himself was like putting God to the test, hence breaking one cardinal law of Jesus - not to subject God to the test. Sometimes as believers, we know what the word of God promises, but because of our own disbelieve, based on our knowledge, rather than God`s word; we restrict God`s ability to perform wonderful miracles. | Faith allowed power to flow from Jesus even without his initiative. What is faith? |
Faith is believing that something will happen, without a single doubt. Faith in God`s word means that God will do exactly what He says He will do. The woman who touched the helm of Jesus` cloak believed without, that by touching it, she would get well, and she did, and she was healed. Jairus believed that if Jesus laid his hands on his daughter, she would get well, even when she was already dead, and he was being discouraged by neighbours. Indeed Jesus laid his hands, and the girl got raised up. When we ask God anything according to his will, we will surely get. Only do not doubt.
