How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him? a New commandment? To have intimacy with Jesus is to have a love-love relationship with him. You love him, and he loves you. Both of you are friends, trusting one another. Jesus says that the one who has his commandments, and keeps them, that is the one who loves him. He assures us that both him, and his Father would love such a person too. This is the essence of what he meant that...If you love me, keep my Commandments, and the Commandment is To love God with all your heart, mind, strength, and to love one another. By this people shall know that we belong to Him.In summary, therefore : To love Jesus Christ, and to obey his Commands are synonymous.
