Since Luke was researching for a high government official, "Most Excellent Theophilis", how many eyewitnesses (and who) do you think Luke interviewed before writing his report? Luke being among the four authentic persons to write Jesus biography and it being written after Jesus death might have interviewed his apostals and other family members still alive
