His acceptation of His Father`s Will to pay for our sins on the cross is the accomplishement of this way.
This accomplishment, he made it with real love, otherwise, he couldn`t ask to His Father on the Cross : Father, Forgive them for they don`t know what they are doing. Even in front of the death and a terrible way of death, he proved once again his love for mankind. I`m sure, nobody all over the world can do something like that and I really recongize in Jesus Christ the Son of God.
Even, I`m a sinner, I accept Jesus as my Lord and my Salvator and only Him can forgive my sins and give me everlasting life

Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? I think he had to suffer physically and emotionally as he wanted to take all sufferings that people go through on earth so that we can be healed in his actions. Also, as he came to earth like a human being, he had to go through human sufferings to make us see that he has gone through all this before us. Through these sufferings, whenever we complain and suffer about an illness or whatever, we will always remember that he has gone through them all even if he didn`t deserve it.

Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) I don`t think he was trying to incite his death. It was God`s plans anyway that his Son would die for us and he would do so to forgive us from our sins.
I think what he did in the temple was because he was fed up of seeing people acting like they did. Even if he didn`t act like this, he would die the same way on the cross
