Define "Salvation" ? Note how Zachariah (the father of John the Baptist) praises God for fulfilling an old promise (oath/covenant) that "we...should serve him (God) without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life."

SALVATION is the eternal life through the forgiveness of sins, hope and peace that God put in His Son Jesus Christ, as well those delivered by Christ from the darkness and the shadow of death are free and can be used God without fear, in holiness and righteousness all the days of their lives

people probably think that John is someone who is very special and will perform great signs in the name of God, specifically, they think that John is a messenger of God, a great prophet
