Why is this old man Simeon so excited to meet this baby Jesus?

Simeon had seen the Savior the Holy Spirit showed him to see before he would die. He knew very well all his generation is gone and he was waiting to see the Lord Jesus Christ so that he is released by the Spirit to die now.

What was Mary feeling in her heart after she heard the report from shepherd about many singing angels?

Mary was praising the Lord with her heart for fulfilling the promise through her. she knew that the Lord informed the innocent and lowly shepherds to see the new born Christ Jesus. The shepherds are a symbol of Jesus mission to the world.
