Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Our sins can only be washed by the blood of jesus shed at callvary.Jesus felt he has borne the penalty for the evils of mankind.This relates to jesus earlier mission statement to sacrifice himself for others.
