Why were the chief priests and scribes angry, what was it that Jesus said? They were angry because jesus had spoken against them. He related how God set profets that were not listened to by the people and that God had sent him BUT still the people would not listen. Instead they wanted to kill the son of God!! Thus this made the scribes angry as they knew he was referring to them directly.
