What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?

He was afraid of what the crowd might do to him. If he was found to have been with Jesus he would have been seen as they saw Jesus and would have probably wanted to kill him aswell. They would have also cursed him and persecuted him just as they did to Jesus. Peter loved Jesus but he wasn't ready for death, pain and the embarrasment that Jesus was going through. These days people are more concerned about how people see them instead of how God sees them. Some are scared of being persecuted, insulted, ridiculed and possibly being killed because of Jesus and hence they deny or dont stand up for him. Others think they might not fit in and dont want to be the laughing stalks and so are ashamed of be asocieted with Jesus.

PETER SAW HOW THAT THEY HIT SPIT BEATEN JESUS. HE WAS AFRAID THAT THEY WOULD DO THE SAME TO HIM.
