"According to Jesus, what does it mean to be loved by God?"

According to Jesus, God loves those who do what Jesus teaches them to do. The one who does what Jesus says, is loved by God and Jesus loves loves him too. This complies with what Jesus says, that 'I am the way, the truth and life. No one can come to the Father without me'. Also that, anyone who knows Jesus, knows the Father. What Jesus says, comes from the Father since he does only what he has been sent for by the Father, and not his own.

Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?

Yes, Jesus is teaching us that we should not desciminate against each other, especially on the basis of what we have. What I have, or what I can do does not make me any better as far as human dignity and rights are concerned. Our mercy and compassion to those who do not have, pleases God. All that we have comes from God, it is given by Him, and belongs to Him. We must use what he gives us to glorify Him. Giving is an act of love, and God is love. He who does not love, does not know God. Jesus died for the sins of all the people, and he loves all the people, irrespective of what they have and what they do not have.

Define "Compassion"?

I think compassion is a feeling ofn deep sympathy and sorrow for another person who is in need and its accompanied by a deed desire to help that person. Jesus felt compassion for the thousands of people who gathered around and he gave them food.
