Why do you think Pilate gave Jesus the title "King of the Jews"?

Pilate was trying to uplift himself that he is the one who ordained Jesus as the king. This is why the chief Priests said "IAM KING OF JEWS" protraying the word of Jesus Himself not "king of the Jews" as written by Pilate . It seems here that the Jews were disparate for a king who will save them from politiclal hardship, therefore it was easier to make attention for the king who is to free them from surfering. This was so because Jesus was born a Jew.

Why was the crowd so intent on having Jesus crucified?

The crowd was so intent on having Jesus crucified because they wanted their false accusations (charges) to come to pass. They were bound by their traditional law and thought that Jesus' claim to be the son of God was unlawful. They hated the true testmony of Christ and intended to use their worldly powers to achieve their evil desire.

What did Pilate perceive about Jesus that made him so reluctant to have Jesus executed?

Pilate perceived the true testmony Jesus gave. It seems Pilate listened to the true voice of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ and found out that Jesus was sinless thus why he asked the people to chose by themselves who to release between Jesus and Barabbas.
