They did not accept the invitation to spend eternity with Him that's why He send the invitation to all the people of the world(the Gentiles)| Why is religious hypocrisy so offensive to Jesus? The scribes and Pharisees tell the people to do things but they themselves don't do it. They don't practise what they preach.They want all the glory for themselves and not God.They burden the people with all kinds of man made laws and judge them if they fail.Everything they do is to show how good and important they are. Their deeds are oppose to the will of God
