3071 entries for this category: What did Pilate perceive about Jesus that made him so reluctant to have Jesus executed? Anyone who was privledged enough to encounter Jesus whether they accepted Him for who He was or not, could see there was something different about Him that was unlike themselves. Although Jesus was a man and was humble and even lived lower than the richest or most earthly powerful men, the way that He spoke was different than any other. Take for instance the tax collector. He didnt know Jesus but when Jesus commanded he follow, he left what he was doing and followed and so did most of His disciples. I believe their was a presence about Jesus in human flesh that people felt His power. Also by the way He spoke. Take for instance the Samaritan woman. She only thought Jesus was a Jew until the things He said had her instantly convinced that He was who He said He was. And another reason Pilate was reluctant was because I think he genuinely found no wrongdoing on Jesus behalf. He didnt see why Jesus needed to die based on what the priests had testified

Why do you think Peter denied Jesus? Peter is quite aware of the trends of unpleasant events that will follow the arrest of Jesus (beating, scouging, or even death). He was afraid to be part of such an event. Moreover the confidence that it is only what God allows that can happen has not yet been formed in him.

Why did Jesus go so willing with those who intended to do Him harm? Jesus knew all along 'his hour would come'. He knew he would be betrayed, he knew who would do it, and knew He would die a horrible death for the sake of saving mankind. Jesus knew this was the plan of God almighty. This was necessary so that man could have a relationship with God and enter into His kingdom in the New Jerusalem
