What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

Jesus did not fall in with the avreage run of the mill everyday person, or ideas. He was surrounded by this strong Jewish culture with their own expectancies and yet He became His own person with a strong connection to God. He did not comply to the world, He complied to that which God expected of Him. He also did not get involved with the Roman-Jewish thing, no His focus was definately not there, it was on God, yet everyone alse was involved.

Jesus describe him as the same man who built a house on the earth without a foundation against which the stream broke and suddenly it collapsed.
