Why is giving in secret more to be commended that giving where people can see it?

Real giving is personal and should be out of a compassionate heart. Otherwise its just cold! God knows the secrets of our hearts and God 'moves' with a compassionate heart. And where there is a move of God, power is released, people are changed, healing manifests, and situations change. God is glorified!

What things do you treasure? In what things do you delight? What does this tell about you?

Jesus said that we should leave all things and follow him; seek first His kingdom and these things shall be added to us. By dying to the things of the world, life in the Spirit is given. We should 'die' daily. He is all I need, and He is my treasure. In serving God, my focus changes, my life changes and so does those around me!

Why does God appreciate prayers in secret more than public prayers?

Real intimacy grows relationships. God wants a personal relationship with us. This type of relationship is difficult in public. God wants real, heartfelt, deep prayers.
