If John Jesus had to be baptized to fulfill what was written in the scriptures. He also did it to show that he was human and so had to go through everything that humans went through to show the example of what God requires a believer to do when he is born again. It was also a way to prepare him for his mission. The dove came down on him to come and give him power.

If you were Mark, writing a short report to demonstrate to a Roman audience that Jesus (a Jewish man) was "the Son of God", what would you include in that report? First we have to recognise the type of people you'll be writing to. These Romans were interested in the power of the messiah and what he was able to do. So i would include the prophesies of the messiah from the old testament together with his miracles showing his power cme using that to prove that he was the son of God.
