In what way is Jesus still with us always? How can we be assured of Hi s presence?

Jesus is with us through the Holy Spirit who He said He will send and told his disciples to be in Jerusalem until the Spirit comes upon them. Then Jesus is also said the word made fresh so we are sure He is with us through His word. His word will leave beyond the passing of the earth. This makes us believe he is with us until the end of time.

Why didn`t the elders want the true story of Jesus` resurrection to get out?

If the true story had come out it would have been a disaster. The people would have known that surely they did spill innocent blood. They would have also believed everything that Jesus said and that surely he might have been the son of God. Worse off the elders would have been ridiculed by the people as truely being hypocrites and not believed anything they said or taught. They would have lost their popularity and people would have stopped respecting them and possibly attempted to kill them. They didn't want the embarassment of being proven wrong by the person they lead people to believe that was a deceiver when in actual fact they were the deceivers.
